How much duties and taxes do I have to pay?

When shipping goods internationally, it is important to consider the effects of duties, taxes, and other clearance charges (in addition to the transportation cost) when determining a shipment's total cost (landed cost). Depending on the shipment content and the destination country, clearance charges could significantly impact the total shipment cost. Being able to calculate and communicate the landed cost up-front can save both the shipper and the recipient valuable time, money, and effort.

Duties and taxes are imposed to generate revenue and protect local industry; almost all shipments crossing international borders are subject to duty and tax assessment by the importing country's government. Customs officials assess duties and taxes based on information provided on the air waybill, the commercial invoice, and other relevant documents. In some countries, duties and taxes must be paid before the goods are released from customs.

Declared Value for Customs and Duties and Taxes
Customs officials use a shipment's declared value (the value the shipper declares on the goods being shipped), along with the description of the goods, to determine duties and taxes. It is important to ensure that the declared value claimed is accurate. Inaccurate declared value is one of the most prevalent reasons for duty and tax disputes. A shipment's declared value represents the selling price or fair market value of the contents of the shipment, even if not sold. This value is identified on the FedEx Express® International Air Waybill and the FedEx Express® Expanded Service International Air Waybill as the "Total Value for Customs," and it must be consistent with the value shown on the Commercial Invoice.

In general, standard time frame for repairs and services is an average of 2 - 6 months.

  • Sending your mechanical watch to an authorized service centre for servicing at least every 5 - 10 years
  • Sending your watch to an authorized service centre for battery replacement at least every 18 to 24 months.
How to take care of your luxury watch
Your watch is comparable to a jewel. Creations of such exquisite craftsmanship require special care to maintain their pristine appearance and precise performance. To prolong its longevity and precious beauty, we highly recommends regular servicing, which allows you to keep your watch in perfect condition and working properly for a lifetime. Just as a car requires regular maintenance, every watch also needs consistent care. Your watch requires maintenance every 1 to 10 years, depending on the mechanical features of the watch.
Care recommendations

If you have not worn your automatic or manually wound watch for a prolonged period of time, wind it fully by turning the crown twenty times. Further details are specified in the respective brand for their service guide.

In order to ensure the performance of your manually wound mechanical watch, we advise you to wind the crown once a day, preferably at the same time. Be careful not to force the crown once you feel resistance.
Do not change the hour or date between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., the period during which the date changes, as this may result in damage to the movement. Please refer to the service guide for further details.

Do not expose your watch to temperatures higher than 60° Celsius (140° Fahrenheit) or lower than –10° Celsius (14° Fahrenheit). As your body and clothing will warm up the watch, its actual temperature will be different to the ambient temperature of your environment.

In case of a shock to the watch, consult the brand boutique or certified retailer. Even if no scratches or dents are visible, the movement may be damaged.

Do not wear other jewellery on the same wrist as your watch in order to preserve the patina of its surface and the integrity of the material. To preserve the pristine condition of your alligator, calfskin, satin or rubber strap, avoid contact with humidity, salty water, soap and cosmetic products. Do not treat your strap with wax, leather or shoe polish, as chemicals may damage the leather, lining or stitching. This may cause the strap to lose its original shine. Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures and direct sunlight to prevent the colour from fading. Please note that strong perspiration may darken the leather. Diamonds, set on a bezel or crown, must be handled with care to maintain the lifetime of their brilliance. Avoid contact with chemical products such as fragrances and detergents, as these substances will tarnish precious stones. If your watch has been exposed to such products, clean it with lukewarm water and a soft toothbrush. Then, rinse it with fresh water and use a soft cloth to dry it or let it dry naturally. Never expose it to a direct heat source. Additionally, please be sure to check the stones regularly to ensure they are still securely set.

Storage of your Luxury Watch

We recommend to keep your watch in the box in which it was received. When travelling, we advise you to keep your watch in a specially designed travel pouch to protect it against shocks and damages.
When not using your quartz watch for a very long period of time, please visit a boutique or agent to replace the battery.

Water resistance

Water resistance

We highly recommend testing the water-resistance of your watch at least once every three years. Water inside the case may result in condensation, which can lead to deterioration of the movement. If you often engage in sports or are in frequent contact with water, the test is required once a year. Even though watches are tested under various conditions, we strongly advise you not to pull out the crown or use the pushers while swimming, cleaning the watch or when the watch is submerged under water.
After swimming in the sea or in a swimming pool, clean your watch and stainless steel bracelet with lukewarm water and rinse it. Then, use a soft cloth to dry it or simply let it dry naturally. Never expose it to heat sources, such as hairdryers or radiators. If the watch has a leather strap, avoid any contact with water.
Also avoid any contact with chemical products such as solvents, cosmetics or detergents. They may damage the case and the bracelet or cause the gaskets to deteriorate.

Magnetic fields, such as those produced by TV sets, radios and magnets, occur everywhere. They affect different parts of a watch’s movement and change its performance. You can use a compass to check for magnetic fields. If the needle responds, then you are in a region of magnetic influence.
Please note that this only concerns mechanical movements. Quartz movements may lose a few seconds, but will return to normal once you leave the magnetic field.
