TAG Heuer is on a roll right now. After delivering cool style with the Carrera Plasma and hours of entertainment with its recent Mario Kart collaboration, it’s now releasing a new timepiece that will undoubtedly appeal to trendy partygoers and Gen Zs. The Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome features a cool multi-colored dial concept that will turn every moment into a dance party.

The watch Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon isn’t new; this particular edition is based on the Nanograph, which as you will recall, has a superb carbon composite hairspring that’s highly shock resistant and delivers near-perfect isochronism. What is new with the Polychrome edition is a funky rainbow-coloured skeletonised dial that’s specially developed with a company called Positive Coating.

Positive Coating specialises in PVD or plasma vapour deposition treatments, and they are the only company to create this stunning effect. By depositing metal oxides in thin transparent layers and varying these coatings by nanometers across the surface, they can create this multi-hued effect. While PVD treatments have been used in watchmaking for 40 years now, this is a new and patented solution that brings new levels of creativity to a watch.

The skeletonised dial’s cutouts let you see the multi-coloured display, which also varies when seen from different angles. The chronograph totalisers have a coral blue hue, while around the tourbillon, it dips into orange, pink, and red. The movement, of course, is the Heuer 02T COSC chronograph tourbillon, one of TAG Heuer’s most precise calibres with an 80-hour power reserve.

The oscillating rotor of the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome is treated in a similar fashion.

The case of the Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome is in grade 5 titanium with a matte black PVD coating, keeping it ultralight. The bezel and lugs are made in carbon, and the watch is fitted with a domed and bevelled sapphire crystal. The oscillating rotor, visible through the back of the watch, is also treated with the polychromatic PVD effect, making the watch a delight to wind as the rotor swings about. It livens up what would usually be a rather serious looking timepiece.

The Carrera Chronograph Tourbillon Polychrome will be only limited to 150 pieces globally and available from TAG Heuer’s boutiques as well as select retailers, or on its website. It’s priced at SS$33,950. Bring this to your next rave and watch your watch go wild.
