Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph for Only Watch 2023

TAG Heuer has announced its participation in the 2023 edition of Only Watch, a biennial charity auction for research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. As part of their contribution, the Swiss brand will unveil a one-of-a-kind Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph, which will showcase a new movement introduced by the Maison.

The TAG Heuer Monaco watch showcases the brand’s dedication to innovative mechanical watchmaking. Since the 1900s, TAG Heuer has been known for its expertise in chronographs, as seen in their stopwatches and dashboard timers. The watch is made of a combination of titanium and sapphire called “Texturised Titanium”. This creates a crystalized effect and improves scratch resistance. The material catches the light and is water-resistant up to 100 meters / 330 feet.

The TAG Heuer Split-Seconds Chronograph for Only Watch uses four pieces of sapphire, including a case back that encloses the movement for unique viewing angles. The dial also creates a visually captivating effect on the watch’s interior.

The square case of this watch measures 41mm x 15.2mm (lug-to-lug 47.8mm). It features a mechanical split-seconds chronograph movement called the TH81-00 Calibre, which was developed in collaboration with Vaucher. This movement allows for the simultaneous measurement of two-time intervals, making it ideal for timing laps on a racetrack or multiple sporting events.

The TH81-00 is the lightest automatic chronograph movement made by TAG Heuer, entirely crafted from titanium. It features impressive finishes done in collaboration with Artime artisans, including the signature graté damier finish, black polishing, anglage, perlage, and brushed finishing.

Enhancing the movement is an oscillating weight fashioned in the shape of the iconic TAG Heuer shield and adorned with the official colors of Only Watch for 2023, a rainbow of reds, blues, and yellow hues.
